Joanne has a Bachelor of Social Work from James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland, Australia. She is also an ERYT 200 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance and a Group Fitness Instructor with AFAA. Joanne is an advance practitioner in Life Force Yoga, specializing in the mental health aspects of yoga. She also has a Master’s Level Certification in Brain-Based Learning with Eric Jensen, Jensen Learning. Joanne is currently a trainer for Yoga Ed and Yoga Playgrounds and travels nationally and internationally, training yoga instructors, school teachers, PE teachers and mental health professionals in the art of using yoga tools in the classroom.
In Pittsburgh, she provides leadership to state-of-the-art yoga studio, Yoga On the Square, and is the Executive Director of the non-profit organization, Yoga in Schools. She also works part-time teaching yoga as therapy to people with depression, anxiety and trauma at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Currently, she has written and produced a DVD called Absolute Beginner Yoga.
Joanne is married and lives with her husband, Doug, their three children and their dog in Pittsburgh’s East End. For fun, she enjoys cooking, eating, reading, finding adventure and dancing.
